WELCOME TO ZHAC

Greetings to All...

1. What is the first step in getting started in archery?

There are 3 basic steps to get started in archery:
i) Having a safe place to shoot;
ii) Having safe archery equipment that is properly sized for you;
iii) Having someone who is qualified to teach you.

2. How much time will it take to learn?

Learning to safely shoot a bow and arrow takes only a few minutes. With proper instruction, and a little determination, you can hit the center of the target from 6m-10m away within a few tries. However, archery can be a very exacting sport to master arrow after arrow, especially if you want to be competitive archers.

3. Do you have to be strong to shoot a bow?

Not at all. To start, it’s only important to have a bow that is easy to pull back and that will get the arrow to the target.
A beginning recurve bow (a bow that looks like the kind they use in the Olympics) can be as little 10-15 pounds of pull
Bows can be adjusted to nearly ANY weight. There are very strong pulling bows that are used for long distance and very gentle pulling bows that are made for beginning archers.

Joint Statement by MOE and AAS

Suspension of Archery from 2012 SSSC Calendar
Earlier this year, there were computational errors in the inaugural 'A' and 'B' Divisions National Inter-Schools Archery Championships organised by the Archery Association of Singapore (AAS).
This affected the placement of some schools.
The AAS will be reviewing how it conducts the Singapore Schools Sports Council (SSSC) competitions.
In the meantime, archery will be suspended from the 2012 Singapore Schools Sports Council (SSSC) calendar for a year to facilitate the review.
For 2012, the AAS will continue to organise the age-group competitions, while working closely with MOE to improve the processes.
Students will be able to participate in the championships and continue to be awarded CCA Points, although it will not be reflected in the SSSC Calendar.
